Access is via a gated, steep tarmac drive
(over half a mile) with two hairpin bends. Unless there are
extreme weather conditions, the drive should present no problems.
Cars can unload close to the front door.
There is a limited train service to the accommodation via
a private platform, however this is accessed via a steep grass
track about 50 yards long. From March until October there
are quite a few trains each day. On a busy day in August there
are 8 trains up the line and 8 trains down the line. Detailed
timetable is available from the Ffestiniog Railway website
www.festrail.co.uk
The Ffestiniog Railway provides wheelchair access to most
of its buildings and trains. Dogs are welcome. If you
are disabled and considering travelling on the Ffestiniog
trains please contact the booking office to discuss your individual
requirements.
Information about the property can be provided in large
print.
The nearest shopping is a 20-minute drive to the village
of Penrhyndeudraeth, which has most facilities including a
small supermarket, excellent butcher, delicatessen, bakery,
chemist, dentist and surgery.
The Cottage accommodation is formed from the old farm buildings
that connect to the main house as a wing.
The entrance to the cottage is via stable doors, down one
step, which is 22 cm high and leads through a utility room
into the kitchen.
The layout of the kitchen would not allow easy access to
sink although access to cooker and fridge would be relatively
simple.
There is a small garden, which is accessed via French windows
from the kitchen and up one step, which is 12 cm high.
From the kitchen there is one 18 cm step up to the living
room.
Also from the kitchen there is easy access to a small twin
bedded room on the ground floor with easy access to bathroom
(bath and separate walk in open shower unit). The sink height
is 90 cm.
There is a further double bedroom, which can be accessed
via 6 uneven flagstone steps from the living room. This bedroom
has a toilet (narrow access door only 56 cm), sink and shower
with a small step up into the shower.
From this bedroom there is access to a garden room down two
steps of about 17 cm each.
The flooring in all rooms is even except for the garden room,
which has uneven flagstones.
There is good lighting throughout the property.
