Black
Rock Sands is a large flat beach less than 30 minutes by car
which gets busy during the summer holidays but has plenty
of room for everyone to find their own bit of space. If you
have young children or lots of stuff to bring onto the beach
the beauty of Black Rock Sands is that you can drive onto
it.
There is a great view of the Snowdonia mountains from the
beach with Harlech Castle to the South and the sun setting
behind Criccieth Castle in the evening.
Harlech Beach is another popular beach about 30 minutes to
the South and with sand dunes.
A traffic free alternative is to catch the train to Porthmadog
and walk round the harbour to Borth y Gest and the several
coves that lead up to Black Rock Sands.
