Maentwrog Nature Reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest managed by the Countryside Council for Wales. There are numerous idyllic walks and awesome waterfalls within the reserve which is just a couple of minutes walk from the house.

As you'd expect there is a lot of wildlife in the Reserve. The Pine Marten is Britain's 2nd rarest carnivore and is thought to reside around here. There have been sightings but as yet no categoric proof. If anyone manages to photograph a Pine Marten in the Reserve we will happily pay a £100 reward for use of the picture.
